We have a peculiar visitor...

So this morning my dad, Isabella and myself pulled into my driveway. I stopped the car about a quarter of the way in to find a pheasant poking around the bushes near my driveway! I put the car in park and we watched for several minutes as he moved about, slowly looking around. He didn't seem spooked at all by the car, which was still running. He then flew up into the tree about 5 feet away from my car.

So I threw it in drive and quickly ran in to grab my camera (which of course was inside). I swear I've gotta start carrying my camera around with me... Anyways, I was able to sneak back outside and grab a couple shots of him in the tree outside our house. He was only about 10 feet away at the time.

So after a few minutes he flew away and I tried to get a shot of him in flight (which didn't work- he's a faster bugger). But my dad turned around to find the pheasant hiding in the neighbors back yard... He dove right into the snow! I've never seen a bird do that...

I was prepared for a flight shot this time... It was really neat to see it so far in the city. Later the same day I took our dogs out to find him burrowed in the tree next to our garage. I think tomorrow we're going to put some corn outside, see if he'll stay for a while. Was a very neat experience.
