I'm very lucky to have been blessed with the kind of family I have. Our family unit is one of cohesion I've come to rarely see in other families. It is truly something to see my dad's brothers and sisters, and the families they've raised. So to, my mothers side is similar, they band together because that's what our family does. I don't mean to gloat, that isn't the intention of this post, but to rather remind me that what I have shouldn't be taken for granted.
My grandfather and grandmother are this families glue. Its sometimes overlooked, and too easily forgotten that these people are responsible for so much joy in my life, and yet a couple words like "I love you" are all that ever get conveyed.
Don't get me wrong I think this phrase is important, but it is sometimes hard to remember to say more, to convey more. To let the people in your life really know that they mean the difference between a life lived, and a life truly blessed.
I'm so happy to know that Isabella is coming to the age where she'll have memories of the wonderful people that raised my father. Her great grandparents are so very special to her, and to us, they are symbolic of the cycle of our life. Our family. I only wish that she could have known my mothers parents better, but they watch over us too, I think.
Heres to you grandpa and grandma, because all I ever remember to say to you is "I love you", I treasure the moments my family and I get to spend with you. Congratulations on the family you've come to raise and on all your achievements!
So before I forget, I want to remind you all to not forget just how special those special people in your lives are. Take the time to say- I really value spending time with you!
